Noddy Heroes Have Become The Pals And Favorites Of Generations Of Kids Growing Up Around The Globe
For many folks on the American side of the Atlantic, the name of Noddy means absolutely nothing, however for many kids of a certain generation, it was THE children's TV and book personality. Making it's debut on British TV in 1954 and continuing in that similar format into the 1970s, it was a strong favorite for kids between two and 8 yrs.
Of course, children today have a much more aware and advanced view of the world around them, but the values inherent in this old series have stuck, it seems. Originally created as a children's cartoon story book written by Enid Blyton, the recent incarnation 'Make Way For Noddy' is in 3D and broadcast in over one hundred different countries all over the world. A huge selection of Noddy games as well as Noddy DVDs are also available.
The actions is always combined with lots of enjoyment and laughter, and the underlying motives are always very positive, which is essential for our kids. The series is not adverse, or downbeat. Everything is possible with a good heart. Obviously, even amongst Noddy characters, we have the odd character that is a little tarnished, like the naughty goblins Sly and Gobbo - good names for bad goblins. However, this is Toy town - nothing really bad ever happens here. Noddy has some close friends, like the Tubby Bears (sound familiar?), Big Ears as well as Mr Plod.
The aptly named Big Ears is the one who got Noddy into Toy town after Noddy ran away from the man who carved him - he's made of wood, you see. At first, the Toys were not sure if Noddy could stay or not, as they thought he was more of an ornament than a toy. There was a quick trial and, after he also solved a strange mystery in city, he was allowed to stay.
His pal Big Ears gave him a house to put together and he settled in, solving the odd mystery along the way. How did he make a living? Well, toys don't actually do that kind of thing, they more exchange things. Noddy has a red hat with a little bell at the top that rings when he nods his head, thus the name! He would allow other toys to nod his head back and forward to make the bell ring, and then accept little gifts of the things a wooden boy in Toy town may need.
He eventually got to drive around in a small red, yellow and blue clockwork car to visit all his close friends, take Big Ears to places and help him solve his mysteries. Law and order was maintained by Mr Plod, the policeman, who was often putting Noddy straight about some misunderstandings about how Toy town worked.
