Improve Your Golf In Malaga -Mijas Golf Resort
The Mijas Golf Resort is situated just half an hours drive from San Juan airport. Take the Fuengirola Coin turn off from the motorway and follow the road called Camino Viejo de Coin. The course is about 3 and a half kilometers from the motorway.
Mijas Golf has made a great effort to satisfy the needs of its many players who wants to play golf in Malaga on the Costa del Sol, and to that end, the course comes with all stock-in-trade. There is a practice area, buggy hire, manual and electric trolleys, putting green, bar-cafeteria, restaurant, shop, dressing rooms, bathing facilities and parking facilities. Furthermore, running throughout the grounds, there are places to buy water and other drinks plus toilets. There is also the opportunity to participate in golf technique tuition.
Mijas Golf Resort offers two Golf Courses:
Los Olivos created in 1983/84 & Los Lagos founded in 1976. Both courses are designed by Robert Trent Senior. The main feature which distinguishes Los Olivos from Los Lagos is the abundance of trees - hence the name - and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are the work of the same designer, there is beyond doubt interesting differences between the two golf courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens. Generally the course favors the precision golfer rather than the big hitter.
Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and quite a few trees obstacles, but is defended by many bunkers and nine water areas, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball. It is a course with soft movement and large greens. It could be said that the American designer wanted to present a course especially for amateurs, but likewise, it can present a challenge for the best golfers. One of "Los Lagos" most characteristic and challenging holes is the par 5 thirteenth. Seen from elevated tees it appears deceptively easy but at the approach to the green there is water left and right, also watch out for the hill as even a good shot is in danger of rolling off the green into the water. The 5th a 571 meter monster, is also "interesting". The course is just about free of rough and is practically flat except for a sparse incline up the 18th hole.
There is an outstanding choice of restaurants and bars within the golf resort, and the nearby town of Fuengirola also offers a range of restaurants, along with a cinema and a variety of shops.
The atmospheric white village of Mijas, renowned for its donkey-drawn taxis, is placed high atop the mountains with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean coastline and a number of towns of the Costa del Sol below. Within just a ten minute drive lies some of the best blue flag golden beaches you can imagine, offering you the perfect setting for peace and relaxation.
When you are not playing there is no need to be bored as the Costa del Sol provides more sights to explore than you can possibly desire & your Mijas Golf Villa offer luxurious relaxation by the pool.
